Reminder: this is your last chance to play Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris in Destiny the First

Destiny bids farewell to two of its most popular regular events.

In advance of Destiny 2, the weekly Trials of Osiris and monthly Iron Banner PvP events are shutting up shop in the original Destiny.

As previously report, Destiny's live service ends during August, meaning these events will no longer be available in the first of the shared-worlds shooters.

According to the latest Bungie Weekly Update, The final Iron Banner for the original Destiny will be held next week. The developer has elected not to preview rewards, but did say the mode will be Control - the traditional Iron Banner mode, and Destiny's default PvP mode. So that's nice.

Additionally, the final Trials of Osiris will occur on August 11 - but this weekend's event is the last one to fall within Bungie's Record Book transfer window, which closes August 1. If you want to fill out your Age of Triumph or Rise of Iron Record Book to secure an emblem in Destiny 2, get on it. (You've missed your chance for Iron Banner Record Book entries, alas!)

Bungie hasn't explicitly said Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner will return in Destiny 2, but it has implied it fairly heavily by saying things about the "very last competition in the Destiny 1 Crucible", so we're pretty certain we'll see them again.

Destiny 2 releases in early September for PS4 and Xbox One, and is coming to PC in October. The console beta wrapped earlier this week but you can jump into the Destiny 2 PC beta in late August.

Although we're still missing the big picture it seems like Bungie has made PvP a strong focus with Destiny 2, something that has left PvE players feeling a bit sore. Shabana's pretty riled over it (among other things) but I don't know - I'm waiting for reviews since the beta was so insubstantial.

That might have something to do with my being a little more keen on PvP, but on the other hand I am absolutely awful in the new gunplay-heavy, small team Crucible of Destiny 2, so who knows.
