Realtime Worlds: UK tax breaks are "shrewd investment"
Realtime Worlds studio boss Colin Macdonald's told VG247 he believes the UK Government's games trade tax break announcement in yesterday's budget is a "shrewd" one.
"It's fantastic that the contribution games make to the UK economy is recognised by the Treasury, and more importantly, of the huge future contribution of a games industry competing on a more level playing field will make," said Macdonald.
"I have no doubt the politicians will look back on this in years to come and pat themselves on the back for making a very shrewd investment."
Scottish developer Realtime Worlds is currently gearing up for the release of online shooter APB.
Chancellor Alastair Darling said yesterday that the UK games trade would be afforded tax breaks in a similar vein to those gifted the British film industry.
The new was met with delight from British trade bodies, with TIGA calling the move "inspired".
Solid details about the scheme haven't emerged as yet.
