Dutch police confiscate thousands of PlayStation 3 consoles

Dutch police have reportedly seized tens of thousands of PlayStation 3 consoles from warehouses as part of Sony and LG's ongoing patent dispute.

The Guardian reports authorities are entitles to confiscate PS3 units already installed in owners' homes.

Last week, LG won an injunction under EU law blocking the import of PS3 units for ten days, as part of the electronics manufacturer's claim to the BluRay patent.

LG immediately took the injunction to the Netherlands, where the majority of Europe's 100,000 monthly PS3 imports make land.

Sony is appealing the customs blockade as it continues to counter LG's claims.
