PS4 beta update 8.50 removes PlayStation Communities, features the ability to turn on/off group notifications

The latest PS4 beta update has rolled out to those selected to test it.

PS4 beta update 8.50 removes PlayStation Communities and features some quality of life improvements (thanks, MP1st).

Other features include the ability to turn on or off notifications for each group you are in, and when on the game sessions screen, you can now use the Request to Join button.

This will send a notification to the session leader who can decide whether you can join the game or not.

If you have hidden a game you are playing, other players will no longer see you play it.

In November, Sony released PS4 firmware update 8.00 which integrated Party and Messages, boosted two-factor authentication, and brought with it free avatars among other things. In December, 8.03 was released and included the ability to disable game chat audio.
