The Hong Kong Massacre finally has a release date

Five years on, Hong Kong action movies-inspired The Hong Kong Massacre finally has a release date.

The Hong Kong Massacre was first revealed all the way back in 2014 as an ambitious prototype by a two-person team in Sweden.

The game resurfaced again in 2017, after a long period of silence, with an official announcement trailer. Today, developer Vreski revealed a release date of January 22 on PC, and PS4.

The Hong Kong Massacre is a top-down shooter that offers a different riff on the Hotline Miami formula. As the name might suggest, the game is inspired by classic Hong Kong action movies, with over-the-top gore and use of slow-motion at every opportunity.

The game borrows Hotline Miami's brutal lethality, but gives you the option to use slow-motion to plan your attacks, though only sparingly. You only really need to watch it in action to be convinced, which the trailer below helps with.

There's also a Steam page, where you can add it to your wishlist.
