Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game at UK retail

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has set records for the series, and the Nintendo Switch at UK retail last week.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is off to a fantastic start, not just in terms of the game's critical reception, but also when it comes to sales in the crucial first week.

In the UK, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game ever at retail, snatching the record from Pokemon: Let's Go. Not only that, Ultimate is also the fastest-selling Super Smash Bros. game at UK retail.

Ultimate is up a whopping 302% over the Wii U's Super Smash Bros., and 62.5% over Brawl. This is based on data from chart tracker GfK, as reported by Games Industry.

Digital sales are obviously not included in these numbers, but it's surprising that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate managed to break retail records with digital being much more prominent in 2018 compared to launch years of previous Smash games.

Conversely, Just Cause 4, which launched in the same week, has had a rough start. Just Cause 4 is the lowest-selling entry in the series at UK retail, and only managed to land the number six spot in its opening week.
