Somebody sold repackaged GOG copies of Frostpunk and Surviving Mars on Amazon

Some scoundrels decided to sell repackaged versions of Frostpunk and Surviving Mars on Amazon.

Reddit users have reported copies of Frostpunk and Surviving Mars were made available for sale through Amazon, and neither were legitimate.

According to reddit user CodependentlyWealthy, the version of Frostpunk put up for $2.99 on Amazon was a repackaged version purchased from GOG.

The person who listed the game had included "their own installer signed and published" by Ace Media Group LLC.

According to CodependentlyWealthy, the installer may look legitimate, but the uninstaller doesn't work. Also, the culprits left "GOG-specific metadata files and Galaxy64.dll" in the install directory.

Once word got out, Haemimont Games took to Twitter to state the $3.99 sale of its title, Surviving Mars, was not approved by it or the publisher.

The developer suggests those who purchased the title from Amazon file for a refund.

"To our knowledge, others have received theirs successfully," the studio said on Twitter.

Following the Amazon links reddit posted show that both listings have been taken offline by Amazon.
