The Last of Us is now a theatre experience

For one night only, The Last of Us will be transformed into a live theatre experience.

The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog has been working with Geoff Keighley on an "experimental project" resulting in a single performance on July 28 in Santa Monica.

The event will involve a live reading of "select scenes" from the game by the principal actors: Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Hana Hayes and Annie Wersching.

The performance will be directed by Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, and include slections from the game's score performed by Academy Award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla.

"How this all fits together will remain a bit of a mystery until it happens, but trust me when I say it will be a very special evening," Keighley wrote on the PlayStation Blog.

The event has completely sold out, but Sony will livestream it via the PSN, Twitch and Youtube. Here's a trailer. What a world we live in.
