3D Mark comes to iOS and Android to settle all your petty arguements

Arguing with your mate about whose phone is best is about to reach or whole new level, or perhaps finish, with Futuremark releasing their famous 3DMark benchmarking software across iOS, Android and soon Windows mobile devices for free.

The cross platform benchmark is called Ice Storm and will apparently give your phone’s CPU and GPU a good thrashing before allowing you to compare your score to other users’, because you didn’t feel inadequate enough.

On a more serious note however, it’s a good thing for the mobile space to develop more standardised testing when it comes to the ability of devices to render complex 3D games, which are representing more and more of the mobile games space. Perhaps this benchmark might end up becoming a standard for testing.

3DMark is now avaiable on iOS, has been on Android for a while and is coming soon to the Windows Store for tablets.
