The Writer’s Guild of America has given its coveted VideoGame Writing award to Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Game director Justin Richmond tweeted the news along with a photo of writer Amy Hennig accepting the award. Uncharted 3 was up against Batman: Arkham City, Brink, Mortal Kombat and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – a strong contender as the same team took home the prize for Brotherhood last year.

The Writers Guild of America has nominated Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, God of War 3, and Fallout: New Vegas among others for its annual Video Game Writing Award, which is to be handed out on February 5.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has won the Writers Guild of America award for videogame writing.
Also nominated for the gong were Red Alert 3, Fallout 3 and Tomb Raider: Underworld.

D3Publishing’s Dead Head Fred has won the first Writer’s Guild of America video award given to a game. The PSP title’s script was penned by Dave Ellis and Adam Cogan, and developed by Vicious Cycle. Press release here.
