Lucasarts signs multi-year licensing deal with Epic for Unreal Engine 3
Epic has announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with LucasArts, which will see the firm using Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 as the main development tool for “multiple projects.”

Video: Unreal 3-powered iOS game Dream:scape looks incredible, incredibly creepy
Do you like pretty things? Do you like creepy things? Do you enjoy stroking your chin and pensively emitting the occasional “hmmmm” punctuated by an “indeed”? Well – what a coincidence – Dream:scape is a thing that exists. And we call it a “thing,” specifically, because “game” isn’t quite a fit. “Less a game, per-se, than an interactive experience, controlled by the user,” said its developers.
It’s about a coma patient delving into a dream world that has, among other things, scarecrow clowns. Consider us intrigued/screaming. Check out the trailer after the break.

Epic releases UE3 features video
Kotaku’s posted an exclusive look at the features of the next Unreal Engine, showing off the dev weapons that are going to be used for many of gaming’s biggest titles for years to come. US court allows Silicon Knights to sue Epic over claims of incomplete Unreal Engine 3
The courts have given the go ahead in a suit filed by Silicon Knights against Epic over Unreal Engine 3 licensing. The original complaint, filed back in 2007, claims Epic “defrauded” the firm by claiming the source code for UR3 was more complete than it actually was.

Warner signs long-term agreement to use Unreal for game development
Warner has entered into a licensing agreement with Epic, which will see the firm’s development studios using Unreal Engine exclusively until 2014.

Unreal Engine 3 GDC demo goes direct-feed
Epic’s released a direct-feed video of the Unreal Engine 3 demo it showed at GDC last week. The clip, which showed the company’s outlook on next-gen, was put online in off-screen form on Friday. During a GDC behind-closed-doors session earlier today, Epic’s Mark Rein blew the lid off a new, next-gen focused version of Unreal 3. Yes, next-gen. And he was abundantly clear about it: this stuff won’t run on current consoles. Bar, you’ve just been raised.

Gameloft using Unreal Engine 3 for four new games
Mobile publisher Gameloft said yesterday that it’s licensed Unreal Engine 3 to create four new games, two to be released in 2011 and two in 2012. The identities of the projects were kept under wraps. The announcement came out of GDC, and Gameloft described the deal as “long-term, multi-platform”. Epic is using GDC to inform the trade about its next generation of middleware products.
