A trailer for Total War: Shogun 2 – Gold Edition has been released by SEGA and The Creative Assembly. Alongside the core game, the Gold Edition includes the expansions Rise of The Samurai and Fall of The Samurai. North American strategy aficionados can pick the edition up at retail on March 5 while those in Europe and Australia can purchase it on March 8. In the later regions, Total War: Shogun 2 – Gold Edition includes all three titles plus all released downloadable content excluding the Blood Pack.

The Creative Assembly has issued a title update for Total War: Shogun 2 which is full of delights like more translations and improved lighting, but the best bit is probably a handful of tweaks designed to prevent desync issues when playing multiplayer campaigns. SEGA has sent over a batch of lovely shots for Fall of the Samurai, the stand-alone expansion to Total War: Shogun 2, which released yesterday. It includes six new playable clans, new foreign powers, a new 19th century Japan campaign map with the island of Ezo, railways, 39 new land units, 10 new naval unit types with a total of 21 ships, new port siege battle type and land/sea interactions, campaign map bombardments, 3 new agent types, improved siege battle mechanics, upgradable tower defenses, and multiplayer 2.0. SEGA has announced it’s to make some of its PC games available on EA’s Origin, starting with Total War: Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai which is now available for pre-order on the service. In addition, Team 17 Software, Rebellion, and Kalypso Media Digital have also signed on with the service, which brings Origin’s total partners to 35. Titles from the aforementioned studios will be released in the “coming months.”

SEGA and The Creative Assembly have released a video for Rise of the Samurai, the Total War: Shogun 2 DLC slated for September.  The DLC is set 400 years before the Sengoku period in Shogun 2, where players will lead one of six playable clans from the Taira, Minamoto and Fujiwara families during the Gempei War.
