Here’s a little blip we missed from today’s Tales of Graces f release date announcement; on the PlayStation Blog Tales series producer Hideo Baba said we can expect “a Tales of filled year” and that he has “a lot of surprise announcements lined up”. The next announced western release for the series is Tales of Xillia, which already has a sequel in Japan.

All Games Beta has a Famitsu scan showing some artwork for the next Tales game. It’s a new “mothership” release which asks you if you’d be willing to smash the world for a girl. Who wouldn’t. Namco Bandai’s Tales franchise spans 14 core releases, plus about 20 assorted spin-offs and remakes as well as cross-media dealios, but is only patchily localised, so cross your fingers.

The latest issue of Jump in Japan has confirmed the next Tales of game will be announced next month. The announcement will be made at the Tales of festival on June 2-3 in Japan. The new title is merely called “Next Tales of…” without any platforms attached. Its assumed this’ll be the announce of the next HD title in the series following Xillia for PS3. Graces F launches on European PS3s this summer.

Make no qualms about it: Namco Bandai’s shooting straight for the RPG crown, with UK marketing boss Lee Kirton telling VG247 it’s “extremely” confident on the publisher’s role-playing lineup this year.

“The Tales series has been developed with Japanese players in mind, so achieving success in Japan is a major goal for us. But when the development schedule makes it possible, we do like to create localized versions for some titles in the hopes that players outside of Japan will hear about the series and get to like it.” – Tales series producer Hideo Baba, speaking to InsertCoin on how it focuses on one particular audience in mind compared to a global audience.

Namco will bring Tales of as a browser game, the latest issue of Jump magazine in Japan has said. Known as Tales of the World: Dice Adventure, it’ll be a F2P affair in which you’ll play as other characters in the series. While it does have your typical battles, events and parties systems, it isn’t known if it’s a fully-fledged RPG. The title will launch in Japan in spring.

Namco’s opened up a new teaser site for the Tales of series which is counting down towards the beginning of Tokyo Game Show. The site mentions a “New Tales of,” coming soon after Tales of Xillia released in Japan for PS3. It’s also probably a coincidence that series producer just so happened to say to expect news on Tales of for Vita soon. We’ll let you put two and two together here.

Tales of series producer Makoto Yoshizumi has hinted we’ll see the Namco RPG series make its way to Vita, saying that we should expect news shortly. It comes as Xillia released on PS3 in Japan last week, with Yoshizumi saying to Dengeki that work has already begun on the next main Tales installment.
