Supreme Commander console sequel to have more time, resources, says Taylor

Gas Powered Games CEO Chris Taylor has assured fans that more development time and more resources were being poured into the Supreme Commander 360 sequel after the first port got panned.
“We’re doing it [the port] in-house and giving it a lot more time and a lot more resources,” Taylor said.
“I would be very surprised if it didn’t do as well as the PC version.”
Look back at the first game Taylor told Joystiq at E3: “I felt bad [for] the developer who did the Xbox 360 version just did not have the time or the resources.
“It was a hair on fire mission.”
The initial reception for Supreme Commander 2 has been mostly positive. Here’s hoping it lives up to the early promise.

Supreme Commander 2 hands-on is generally positive

Supreme Commander 2 promises to be just as large as the original and address a number of issues that were present as well.
That’s according to Gamespot, which got hands-on time with the game at E3.
Supposedly it has a better art design, economy, improved pathfinding, tech upgrades effecting existing units, and new tech trees allowing units to include barrels, anti-aircraft weaponry, and more.
Sounds lovely.

The announcement is a big deal for Square: it equates to something along th lines of, “This is us making a game specifically engineered for western audiences.”
“We see great opportunities in European and North American markets, both of which are expected to be maintaining sustainable growth over these coming years,” said Square super-boss Yoichi Wada.
“Therefore, it is crucial we create alliances with proven developers such as Gas Powered Games in order to serve these significant markets better by providing products and services in tune with customer tastes.”
