Assassin’s Creed: Utopia will have no links to ACIII
Playing upcoming smartphone game, Assassin’s Creed: Utopia will have no bearing on, or contribute extra content to, your Assassin’s Creed III game, Ubisoft has confirmed. Those that abhor trans-device gaming tie-ins will be pleased, but the move seems to contradict Ubisoft’s “companion gaming” strategy.

Report: Mobile games contribute to doubling of gamers from ‘older demographics’
A report by market intelligence firm Parks Associates has said a huge rise in mobile gaming has taken place since 2007.

US smartphone game sales up 300% in November
Grief. It’s the mobile dream. According to comScore, 2.9 million game were downloaded for smartphones in the US in November 2008, up from 734,000 in November 2007. That’s a rise of 291 percent.
Why? iPhone, obviously, and its App Store. According to this Cellular News story, iPhone owners accounted for 14 percent of mobile game downloaders in November, with 32.4 percent of all iPhone users reporting they downloaded a game in the month, compared with a market average of 3.8 percent.
Those in the mobile games industry are probably running around naked in the snow, screaming for joy. Thanks, Engadget.
