Sega Q1 financials: Aliens sold 1.3m units, profits up 53%
Sega has published details of its Q1 financial report, highlighting a 53% profit increase for the year ended March 31, 2013. The publisher’s biggest hit for the year was Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, while Aliens: Colonial Marines old1.3 million copies worldwide.

Phantasy Star Online 2 delayed
Sorry, Sega fans; the publisher has confirmed a delay to the US release of Phantasy Star Online 2. Polygon reports Sega doesn’t have any firm release window in mind at present, merely allowing that the title has been pushed back from its expected first-quarter launch. An online-focused action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 hit PS3 in Japan in July 2012, and released on Vita in February.

Phantasy Star Online 2 updates detailed at TGS 2012, new videos released
Phantasy Star Online 2 videos have been released, and there is one of each version posted below: Vita, PC, mobile. So pick your poison, or just watch all three. A list of updates coming to the game were announced during TGS 2012 today, and since SEGA has blocked international players on the PC version, you’ll just have to visit Siliconera and weep over what could have been. Sega has advised us it’s going to front nine games at PAX Prime in Seattle between August 31 and September 2. Visit booths 242 and 252 to check out Aliens: Colonial Marines; Double Fine’s latest effort The Cave; Arkedo’s Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit; upcoming downloadable classics Jet Set Radio and NiGHTS into Dreams; MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2; Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Phantasy Star Online 2 has 730,000 registers users
SEGA has announced Phantasy Star Online 2 has 730,000 registers users. The firm also announced that on July 7 it had 91,513 concurrent players. The game is set for an update with new enemies, outfits and hairdos next month, and the update will be delivered in three parts on August 1, August 8, and the end of the month, respectively. US and Europe to share servers in Phantasy Star Online 2
Phantasy Star Online 2′s producer Satoshi Sakai has said North American and European players will share the same server when the game launches in 2013. It was also noted the localization process for different regions will be switches up, such as adding darker skin tones in the game’s character creator, according to Sakai. Phantasy Star Online 2 has been in development since 2008, and has always been planned as a F2P title.

SEGA has announced the open beta for its free-to-play MMO, Phantasy Star Online 2, has started in Japan. The beta will allow participants to reach level 30, and the Japanese client can be downloaded for PC here. The game is slated for a summer release.

Phantasy Star Online 2 screens preview beta content
Sega has released a pile of new screens for PC, Vita and mobile multiplayer RPG Phantasy Star Online. The screens show off some of the content to be included in the next public test, notably a bouquet gun, but as there are over 150 of them I point you towards Andriasang to sup your fill. Phantasy Star Online 2 gets character creation video
Sega’s released a video of the character creation demo for Phantasy Star Online 2. Players will be able to make their own characters ahead of the MMO’s closed beta test, but also be able to find out if your PC will be able to run it once it does launch. Get it below the break.

Phantasy Star Online 2 character creator launching next week
Sega’s announced it’ll launch a standalone character creator for Phantasy Star Online 2 next week, April 5. As well as that, its also released new shots of the game in action on PC, Vita and smartphones. Get them at Siliconera. The MMO will launch this summer in Japan on PC, this winter on iOS and Android, and in spring next year for Vita.
