ShootMania Storm launches with new trailer
ShootMania Storm launches today, and the trailer for it is below. The first-person action, online multiplayer shooter can be yours for $19.99 through Steam, or through the game’s website. The release follows an open beta where “hundreds of thousands of players from around the world competed for global domination on the game’s ladder ranking system.” In addition, testers created over 35,000 custom maps and modes using the editor tools.

Shootmania Storm release date slips to April, new beta and screens ease pain
Shootmania Storm publisher Ubisoft has confirmed that Nadeo’s creatively-charged shooter has slipped to an April release date. Ubisoft has also sent across two new screens to help ease our suffering, and has announced a new open beta phase for February.

Shootmania Storm modes Royal and Elite will be free
Shootmania Storm will have two free modes available at launch: Royal and Elite. Royal tasks players will gaining control over a map point in a free-for-all, and Elite will see two teams of players defending and attacking their opponent’s base. Ubisoft has released a trailer which shows the modes, and it’s posted below. The online FPS from Nadeo will allow players to create, edit and share maps when it releases exclusively on PC later this year.

Ubisoft getting into the eSports game with ShootMania Storm
Ubisoft has announced its getting into the eSports genre with FPS ShootMania Storm, which was designed “specifically with eSports in mind.” The publisher brought six eSports champions and pro-gamers on to the E3 press conference stage to demonstrate one of the competitive shooter’s more unusual modes, which pit one-hit kill rail guns against two-hit kill rockets, with territory to be defended. The match was quick and brutal. No word on eSports partnerships yet. You can sign up for the beta through shootmania.com, and check out the debut trailer. The PC exclusive is expected to launch this year.

The online FPS will feature the ManiaPlanet label’s characteristic customisation options, allowing players to create, edit and share maps. Ubi buys Trackmania developer, Nadeo
Trackmania developer Nadia’s sold out to Ubi, it’s been confirmed today.
Did you know Trackmania’s played by 700,000 people a month? Well, it is.
“The acquisition of Nadeo is an important step in our expansion within the on-line gaming sector”, said super Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s mega-boss.
“Through Nadeo, Ubisoft will gain an expert team, one of the best on-line technologies around as well as a flagship multiplayer game that enjoys an unrivalled reputation among a loyal and committed community.
Trackmania 2 was announced recently for a 2010 ship.
