Fable 3 is currently free on XBL Marketplace
Fable 3 is currently free on XBL Marketplace. The way to download it, is by adding it to you queue, and clicking “use Microsoft Points” even if you don’t have any available – and start downloading. You still have to be an Xbox Live Gold member though, otherwise it will run you 3600 MS Points. No idea if this is a mistake or not as we have yet to see a promo for it, but go ahead and try.

Scott Henson appointed head of operations at Lionhead, Microsoft hires new head of staff
Rare’s studio manager Scott Henson has joined Lionhead as its head of operations. A Microsoft veteran of 18 years, Henson has worked in various sectors of the firm and in various roles. Phil Harrison, Microsoft’s VP of its European Interactive Entertainment Business unit, made the announcement during a press briefing this morning. Microsoft has also hired Roger Walkden as head of staff. Walkden was previously VP of marketing at Activision and head of European business development for EA’s Origin service. Fable: The Journey demo hits XBL next month, new video doc released
A demo for Fable: The Journey will arrive on XBL for Kinect on September 17, Microsoft has announced. The firm has also released a short video documentary discussing the game’s narrative called Telling the Tale. It’s below, courtesy of MasonicGamer. Fable: The Journey will be released on Xbox 360 for Kinect October 9 on the US and October 12 in Europe.

Amazon dates Fable: The Journey for October 9
Online retail giant Amazon has slapped an October 9 release date on Lionhead’s Kinect exclusive Fable: The Journey. The adventure had previously been slotted only for the holiday season. The Journey puts players in charge of a horse and cart and has them traveling the highways ofAlbion aiding – or ignoring – those in need along the way. It’s not on rails – mostly.

Rumor – Lionhead developing MMO-like multiplayer experience for next-gen Xbox
A job listing on LinkedIn states a “major, renowned studio in the UK, “is looking “to bolster it’s team with several new recruits” to work on an MMO title for next-generation consoles. Superannuation reckons the studio is Lionhead.

Lionhead hiring multiplayer designer
Guildford developer Lionhead Studios is looking to ramp up its multiplayer team with a new hire. Fable, the studio’s most well-known product, includes co-operative multiplayer elements, as does spin-off Fable Heroes, although the next release, Kinect exclusive Fable: The Journey, seems to be single-player only. Speculate at will.

Microsoft launched the third and penultimate game in its Arcade NEXT line-up Fable Heroes. The Lionhead spin-off, an action hack-n-slash effort, launches at 800 MS points at a file size of 1.39Gb. Get it queued to your 360 here and watch the launch trailer below. Next week, the big one: Minecraft.

Fable Heroes won’t “shape the future direction of Lionhead”, says lead designed
Lionhead has said Fable Heroes isn’t indicative of future development, according to lead designer Ted Timmins who likened the game to “six guys” creating something “in their spare time,” which was liked well enough by the powers-that-be to warrant a release.
