Garry’s Mod creator responds to Gmod Kickstarter, prepared to fight in court
Gmod developer Olympus Games launched a Kickstarter for its mod library, tracking and creation platform back in April, but we’ve only just stumbled across it. It is not to be confused with Garry Newman’s ‘Garry’s Mod’ tool. Newman has discussed the conflicts and similarities between both platforms with VG247.

Garry’s Mod to get Kinect functionality within the fortnight
Garry’s Mod creator Garry Newman is updating his tool-set to support Kinect functionality, which will allow users to control the limbs of character models using Microsoft’s motion device. Garry’s Mod takes over $3 million in revenue
Garry’s Mod, the Source Engine-based sandbox game that started life as a small but innovative Half-Life 2 mod, has taken more than $3 million in revenue via Steam.
Developer Garry Newman said on this blog: “The popularity took me and Valve by surprise. As soon as it went on sale the Steam servers were temporary knocked out, due to the demand. On the first day it sold 5,729 copies. Wowzer… Over the next 2 years it went on to sell 312,541 copies. Which has totally knocked my socks off.”
$10 a pop. Well done, Garry. Buy us a drink?
