For a limited time you can grab the original Infinity Blade for just 99 cents. The RPG was the first proper game to show off how well the Unreal Engine runs on iDevice, and although surpassed by its sequel, is still one of the finest games for your smartphone. Especially for a buck; it normally goes for around $6 depending on territory.

Infinity Blade II iPad, iPod patch incoming
A post on the Epic Games forums identifies and promises a fix for users experiencing problems on older Apple devices. Only iPad 1 and iPod Touch devices seem to be affected, and even then, only if a large number of apps are installed, due to a problem with how icons are cached. Chair promises a quick fix, and in the meantime, recommends players restart their device before playing.

Infinity Blade II to deal with aftermath of God King’s defeat
Gamespot has a developer diary for Chair’s upcoming Infinity Blade II, which gives some details on the game’s hero, Cyrus, and his quest to find someone called the Worker now that the world lacks a supreme ruler. There are snippets of in-game footage to be seen, plus some teasing references to the overall story of the world.
Infinity Blade II releases on December 1. The original game set records as the fastest-grossing release on the App Store and set a standard for Unreal Engine on iOS.

Infinity Blade on sale – but for how long?
Smash iOS hit Infinity Blade is on sale for £1.99 ($2.99 and €2.39), down from its usual £3.99 price point.
Pocket Gamer noted the price drop, and Chair told Joystiq the reduction is a “temporary sale” in place for “an undetermined amount of time”.
The Unreal Engine-powered action RPG chalked up $11 million in sales in its first six months.

Peter David named as Shadow Complex author
Eisner Award winning author Peter David has written the script to Epic’s upcoming XBLA platformer Shadow Complex, the developer’s confirmed.
David is best known for his work on comics, specifically on The Incredible Hulk.
He currently writes She-Hulk and X-Factor for Marvel.

Bleszinski: Epic’s Chair game to be announced “in the near future”

Cliff Bleszinski’s told Epic fans to keep eyes open for a new game reveal from Chair, the firm’s wholly-owned developer in Utah.
“Our partners at Chair in Utah are working on a product that we’re going to be announcing at some point in the near future which is very, very cool,” the developer said in the latest Major Nelson podcast.
“We have our partners at People Can Fly in Poland working on some great stuff. We’re working on things internally – I feel that I’ve got five balls up in the air that I’m juggling right now,” he added.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time. Keep your ears peeled in the next year. There’s going to be a lot of great announcements.”
Epic bought Chair in May last year.
Bleszinski was talking at GDC last week.
