Ubisoft to release preorder maps from Assassin’s Creed 2 eventually

Gamers who did not preorder Assassin’s Creed II from Gamestop need not worry about missing out on the two “exclusive” maps, because Ubisoft plans to release those to the public at a later date.
“Eventually everyone will have the entire game,” the game’s creative director Patrice Desilets told Kotaku. “I made sure of that.
“Because I’m Canadian, I don’t have the same shops as you do. So I wanted to make sure I could at least someday play everything in the game. Eventually there’s going to be, ‘okay, let’s unlock everything’.”
Palazzo Medici and Santa Maria Dei Frari are currently only available through preordering and Desilets did not when the content would be made available nor how much, if anything, it will cost.

Rumor: Another UK retailer confirms 250Gb PS3 Slim Bundle

Another retailer in the UK has confirmed to Eurogamer that consumers can soon expect a 250Gb PS3 Slim Bundle, going to far as to call it a “definite for October”.
The source, who asked to remain nameless, said its suppliers didn’t know “which game or games will be combined with the console”, but that Sony plans to unveil all at TGS later in the month.
This new bit of confirmation lends possible credence to earlier reports during the week of Assassin’s Creed II, Gran Turismo 5 and Uncharted 2 bundles.
Still, keep it as rumor until an official announcement is made by Sony.

Religion remains a force in Assassin’s Creed 2

Creative director Patrice Desilets had a chat with IGN regarding Assassin’s Creed 2, and revealed that the series will continue to delve into the use and misuse of religion inherent in the struggle between Templars and the assassins.
If you have not played the original game, you may wish to skip the next part. Fair warning.
Apparently, in the sequel, players will learn more about the apple and how this artifact binds the two stories together. Desmond, will also be playing a larger role in the second game, and the sequel will reveal that there is more to the conspiracy unveiled in the first game than just the mere memories of one person.
Cool. Sounding better all the time.

Comedian Danny Wallace to appear in Assassin’s Creed II
Comedian Danny Wallace has lent his voice to Assassin’s Creed II.
His likeness and voice will appear as Shaun Hastings a guide and source of information for the player.
“When the UK suggested Danny to us, we were completely open to the idea,” said script writer Corey May. “Danny has been fantastic to work with, and his manner and particular style of humor has worked out perfect for the role of Shaun.”
“Going right back to my days of working on Sega Power, I’ve always been a keen gamer, and being involved – and actually being in a game like Assassin’s Creed II is amazing! I have to say, I’m rather excited,” said Wallace. This should make more than a few rather happy at the news.

Assassin’s Creed 2 will be more unpredictable and varied

Ubisoft’s Sebastien Puel has promised that Assassin’s Creed 2 will have more variety and less predictability than the first iteration.
“We are now telling a story in a way that is intended to be very unpredictable,” Puel told Now Gamer. “There are no more ‘x assassinations’ to perform but a story that develops through a great amount of mission givers.
“Some will give you an assassination mission, others an intimidation or information-gathering mission. There is no limit now to the types of challenges we can give to players. We are very careful to create a lot of variation in the types of gameplay and pace we are proposing.
“The combat system is based on the first game, but with much more possibilities and strategy behind every encounter. Players won’t be able to simply button mash, killing guard after guard. There will be more thinking involved due to the new different guard archetypes and weapons; you will have to strategically plan your every move.”
