Our man Arekkz takes you through just over 30 minutes in the video below, and according to him "it's hard as hell, to the point it almost makes Dark Souls looks easy." Yikes.
The Alpha demo for Team Ninja's Nioh is available through both the European and North American PlayStation Stores, and promises around two hours of playtime.
PlayStation 4 users have until May 5 to both download and play it.
A specific release date for Nioh hasn't been announced but it's out sometime this year.
