Ni-Oh still looks a lot like Dark Souls in closed-doors TGS footage

Dark Souls fans should definitely take a look at Ni-Oh.

Ni-Oh has been in development hell for years but resurfaced at Tokyo Game Show 2015 ahead of an expected 2016 PS4 release.

Somewhere between the project's 2004 announce as "Oni" and its reappearance a decade later, Team Ninja made a Dark Souls game. The video below was shown behind closed doors at TGS, which is where I discovered this interesting transformation.

Based on an unfilmed Akira Kurosawa script, Ni-Oh concerns the adventures of a foreign-born samurai. It hails from the studio behind Ninja Gaiden, one of toughest action franchises of all time, which makes it an intriguing addition to this genre.

And Souls is a genre now; in addition to From Software's pantheon of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne there's also Lords of the Fallen and possibly The Surge. I'm not complaining.
