New Skywind trailer shows lots of progress in 2016

Skywind has improved by leaps and bounds over the past month.

This new trailer for The Elder Scroills Renewal Project's Morrowind remake shows off the February developer alpha, which is full of new features and content added since the December build.

Some of the latest changes may seem small, but they make a big difference; new tile sets, assets and even map icons are starting to give the whole thing a non-Skyrim flavour at last.

Despite this heartening progress, Skywind isn't expected to release for a very long time yet. It's funny to think that this project aims to update Morrowind to the latest Bethesda tech, and yet we've already had another Bethesda game (Fallout 4) in the interim, and could conceivably see another Elder Scrolls release before it makes it out - and then the whole thing will start again, I guess.

I think the takeaway is we really need an official HD Morrowind re-release, since there's so much appetite for it but nowhere near enough volunteers to get it done at a decent clip. But I think I'd still rather have a new game, wouldn't you?
