Amazon offering midnight deliveries of Black Ops 3

Amazon has found a way to compete with brick-and-mortar retailers for what's almost certainly going to be one of the year's biggest launches.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches as soon as November 6 ticks over - but you don't have to line up outside a retailer to get playing as soon as it's available: Amazon has announced it will allow members of its Prime Now program to "reserve a coveted delivery window for midnight delivery" of Treyarch's latest.

According to an Amazon press release, those who take advantage will have Black Ops 3 in-hand "moments after it is released". There will be no delivery fee.

The offer is limited, so Amazon suggests logging in via the Prime Now app at 12:00am ET on November 4, when midnight delivery pre-orders open, to ensure you don't miss out. The retailer also suggests you order "beverages, snacks or extra gaming controllers" for your "late night mission" at the same time, because of course it does.

You can take advantage if you are an Amazon Prime member and live in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Miami, Minneapolis, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Francisco, San Jose or Seattle.

It's a pretty cunning offer, since the ability to start ranking up immediately is one of primary motivations to go and queue up for a midnight launch - assuming you can't just pre-load or don't want a digital copy.
