Minecraft: Story Mode brings Mojang's world to Nintendo for the first time

TellTale has good news for Nintendo fans.

Minecraft: Story Mode will release on Wii U, the developer has revealed.

The news comes via The Verge, in a lengthy interview feature on the Mojang collaboration.

"Telltale has also revealed to The Verge that the game will be coming to the Wii U as well, marking the first time a Minecraft game launches on a Nintendo platform," the feature notes.

"One of the goals is to reach outside of the Minecraft fandom, and introduce new people to the franchise."

For those not in the know, Minecraft: Story Mode tells the story of a group of players (or their in-game characters, possibly) who are faced with a world-ending threat while celebrating their defeat of an Ender Dragon.

Since Mojang shows little inclination to add any narrative elements beyond the loose motivation of getting to the Nether to face an Ender Dragon, the Telltale series is sort of Minecraft's first official canon.

Telltale also released its Walking Dead series on Wii U.
