NHL 16 cover star Patrick Kane removed over recent sexual assault allegations

EA Sports has removed Chicago Blackhawks Right Wing Patrick Kane from the cover of NHL 16 over a recent rape allegation.

The company stated on Twitter Kane will also no longer be part of the game's promotional activities.

Kane was set to appear alongside teammate Jonathan Toews on the cover. A replacement has not been announced.

A report was filed against Kane last week in New York, with charges pending as the investigation continues.

NHL 16 launches on September 15.
