Assassin’s Creed 3 & Mass Effect 2 animator Jonathan Cooper joins Naughty Dog

Tuesday, 6th May 2014 09:37 GMT By Dave Cook

Uncharted 4 developer Naughty Dog has hired former animation director on Assassin’s Creed 3 Jonathan Cooper. It’s the first high-profile hire from the team following a wave of resignations.

Perhaps Naughty Dog’s highest-profile loss is that of Uncharted writer Amy Hennig. Check out our full report on her departure here.

Game Informer spotted a change of job role on Cooper’s LinkedIn CV, which now states he has been working as animator at Naughty Dog for the past three months,.

Interestingly, his job history states he was working on an unannounced project at Ubisoft Montreal, where he was, “Prototyping a revolutionary new kind of navigation system for next-gen systems.”

We’ll have more on this if and when it’s made publicly official.

I don’t get on how this counts as “the first high profile hire since a wave of resignations”, considering Jonathan Cooper started working there before anyone left. If anything, this just reinforces my thoughts that Naughty Dog has people who are just as capable as any of the people who left at making great games.

Looks like plans for The Last Of Us have been thwarted, thank god someone stopped Neil Druckmann!
