Xbox One: Phil Spencer teases incoming Japanese games

Tuesday, 11th March 2014 08:53 GMT By Dave Cook

Xbox One may not have a launch window in Japan yet, but Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has teased some unannounced Japanese titles over on Twitter.

Japanese titles aren’t new to Xbox One so far, with Crimson Dragon and SWERY’s D4 leading the charge. Spencer’s tweet follows this Amazon Japan Xbox One listing, which suggests wheels could be in motion for the console’s Eastern release.

Towards the end of last year I interviewed some Japanese indie devs to get a firm handle on how the nation’s gamers view Xbox One and the state of Xbox 360′s presence in the retail market over there. The feedback wasn’t kind.

Are you holding out for any particular Japanese devs on Xbox One? Let us know below.

Really, they should just leave Japan to Sony and try to fix what’s going on with the West. XB1 sales have not been Wii U bad, but they’re not exactly flying off the shelves.

@1, I have Xbox One in my country and they are EVERYWHERE but it is hard to find a PS4 in stores. Until March 18 everything is outsold here.

@3, Platinum Games always makes bad decisions. They are making games for the Kojima Productions, then they are making games exclusively wth Nintendo and with Microsoft big pockets it is no surprise that they are making something for them.
I think it is very natural for the studio that works so much and can’t get any financial success.

VG247, you guys seem to source dualshockers a lot these days. I’ve started visiting that site due to VG247

Well at least when they launch they can say, we tried, we failed. Speaking of which what ever happened to the launch in other territories in EU?

@tezzer1985 That might show dualshockers are very committed to gaming news?, some of which catches VG247′s eye. On N4G they are sourced a lot there as well.

That’s so weird. I mean, didn’t Japanese titles on the 360 all do really poorly? I could see mobiles, the WiiU, even the PC and PS3, but Japanese titles seem to be the antithesis of the demographic Microsoft is courting.

Bizarre. I feel sorry for the developers that got suckered into this.
