Killer Instinct: Thunder is now free to all

Friday, 24th January 2014 09:48 GMT By Dave Cook

Killer Instinct fighter Thunder is now available for free as part of Double Helix Games’ rotation.

It follows the first screens of incoming Killer Instinct fighter Spinal. Hit the link to see them.

Killer Instinct started off with Jago as its free character, then Sabrewulf and now Thunder. The rotation means everyone can eventually try each character for free. Spinal isn’t in the game yet, but is on his way.

You can currently buy all eight Killer Instinct characters for $19.99 / £16.99 / €19.99.

Are you still playing Killer Instinct? Not convinced? Check out my Killer Instinct appraisal through the link.

This game just looks abysmal to me. The character roster is super thin even if you pay for all of them and the mobile-game-style of its pricing plan is not something I welcome to console gaming. Not to mention, the control scheme seems dated and unappealing, no story mode whatsoever or even an arcade mode yet FFS… To me, this game just showcases everything wrong with the way the folks behind it think.

@1 clearly you haven’t played it.

@1 Only 8 characters, but game is well balanced. Spinal is out next month, and story mode/online lobbies/fulgore in March (no extra cost, if you brought the barebones 8 character pack)

But you don’t seem like fighting game fan to me.

@2&3 I agree with y’all there. #1 hasn’t played it and probably not a fighting fan. The game looks great, plays great and if you have a good speaker system, sounds great.
