Seems no one is noticing any progression difficulties which was the prophesy of internet denizens due to “my dear MTs”.
Obviously, the butthurt wont stop, even though it would affect no one.

but to be honest. This guy’s review is bullshit. He has like 20 sentence in review that SAYS nothing about the game’s Physics and Adaptive tesselation and mechanics.

This a guy is a retard.

IMO, Dave you should not include here reviews that has 20 sentences at best that explains nothing about game’s mechanics that is a SIMULATOR especially when it comes to GT6 that tried to innovate with new physics and adaptive tesselation on current gen consoles.

and then he talks about the soul of this game.

Seriously. MS paid them or he (reviewer) is insane. I think he is insane and require psychologist or he should find a different job.

^No. A game needs soul. That is necessary. Developers clearly missed putting soul in it.

Btw, what is “soul” in games? :D

For a ps3 game not bad. Still racing games suck ass especially with micro’s.

@13 I’m friends with most of Videogamer. We used to work together when I worked for Imagine Publishing. They’re not insane or being paid off.

    Utterly ludicrous claim.

@18, so this is ok for the reviewer to say nothing about game’s mechanics and talk about the soul of the game for 20 sentences + the Information that we know already about? He says that “Driving itself is solid, even therapeutic, but ultimately soulless.” but can’t explain anything about it and tells us that this game have 1200 cars and “no soul” for no reason at all.

    what about microtransactions and stuff?

So far this review shows that he never even touched the game and even if he touched he is not a fan of not just a Driving simulator game but racing genre at all.

So yeah. He need to find another job because he really did a poor job with the review. I get more info from Vg247 news then this review and that is not supposed to happen.

According to IGN the sound and damage models are still not improved upon, which is a shame. Good car sounds is very important in my racing games. Looks like it has more than enough quantity, but lacks some quality.

@21 Erth, I’m not being drawn into this okay, I’m busy. But let me ask you this, do you believe every review you read? Is it not within your right to disbelieve or believe someone’s opinion?

If you don’t like their review, just don’t acknowledge it as valid. It’s the grown up thing to do.

Does a driving game need soul?, Do you need to care about the cars? Also I never see the point of a “story” in a racing game. I loved the Dirt games but not because of the “story”, it was about how the game played as a racing a game.

And really, does GT6 still have a crash sound effect of a tin plate hitting the floor? good god!

I would argue the GT (minus the MT stuff) series has ‘soul’. The amount of passion / care and attention that gets put into the game shows it’s clearly a labour of love.

Feel free to pick this apart as you will but it’s a quick term to differenciate between products that are made out of necissity or to ‘cash in’ on a popular trend.

It all depends on how much freedom a dev gets (clearly the GT team have huge freedom through the creative process), this translates to the final product and the fan base.

You leave some of yourself in the final product.

So it appears to be excellent depending on your values for a racing game. Some people believe audio, consistency & realistic damage is almost as important as graphics & variety & that’s a fair opinion.

Also while looking at Metacritics user reviews I noticed the amount of 0′s for micro-transactions. It’s plain silly, these people clearly haven’t played it & should never be allowed to rate something ever again.

Yeah, it seems as if there is a concensus among Gamereactor to give it a low score. It looks as if the reviewers in question does not like driving simulators. Perhaps they should find someone who does appreciate or understand this subgenre within the car genre.

GT is really the best racing sim on console (if you care about driving feel and tires/suspensions physics). I wish they add qualifying sessions and standing starts in the next game though.

On PC Assetto Corsa is really in a league of its own.

@40 both the Danish and Swedish reviewers are sim geeks. Hell, the Swedish reviewer is a former rally driver (afaik) and owns a Nissan GT-R…

Just strange that every GR agrees on 5 and 6 while the rest (mostly) gives much higher marks. Normally the GR sites does not have this similar marks, as far as I remember.

I have very fond memories of Gran Turismo from my PS2 days. Glad to see it’s still doing well (depending on who you ask though apparently) it really paved the way for other racing sims. I don’t know whether it was the first series to give you a garage of cars to buy/upgrade/manage but it was the first I played anyway.

@21 Yes, it’s totally ok for someone to review a game based on what’s important to them instead of what’s important to you, because you have a dozen other reviews you can read until you find the info on what’s important to you.
