Monster Hunter 4 ships 3 million in Japan, hits new third-party record

Monster Hunter 4 developer Capcom has announced it has shipped three million copies of the RPG in Japan, setting a new third-party record on Nintendo 3DS.

Capcom announced the milestone on its Japanese site and clarified that the total number includes both boxed copies shipped and 3DS eShop downloads purchased.

The game launched on September 14 and Japanese chart-keeper Media Create has listed Monster Hunter 4 sales at over 2.5 million. It's clearly selling well.
