Fable: Legends is “big and ambitious,” with a 5-10 year lifespan planned

Friday, 13th September 2013 20:44 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Fable: Legends will be around quite a long while, according to Lionhead boss John Needham. Speaking with GI International, Needham said the development team is looking to keep the game going for at least 5-10 years. “We’re playing the long game with this,” he said. “This is the next big Fable game that is going to be out for five to ten years so it needs to be big, it needs to be interesting. There needs to be a lot of stuff to do, it needs to integrate all the cloud and Xbox One features so we keep our community alive and growing. It’s big and ambitious, but it needs to be because it’s going to be around a long time.” The persistent online title with four player co-op, has yet to be given a release date.

I am afraid MS has ruined Fable……..:(

I was so looking forward to a new Fable game, maybe a different storyline away from Theresa and her family. I was hoping for a new hero back in the guild days.

Instead we get this…but Lionhead is a good developer so maybe they can change our minds?

@1 doesn’t mean to say Microsoft won’t make Fable 4 sometime in the future.

I think this Microsoft trying their hand on some type of console MMO type game, where they can hopefully successful nickel and dime Xbox gamers.

It’s interesting to see they plan it to be more of a long term project, perhaps in vain of their recent titles being released in quick succession.

They could easily surprise us as it is still a great franchise potentially, but I’m not a huge fan of the cg trailers for games with little to no information and not even an estimated release date. Hyping something before it even takes shape is an awful idea.

Still, I look forward to what the next Fable title brings, and hope Lionhead try something new following the release of this game.

I fine with companies trying something new. Only wish there was more then words when they open their mouths about it.

the first fable was fantastic but as everything else microsoft touch. they ruined the game totally with the follow ups that was no good. this game franchise is best staying buried. so it dont ruin the legacy anymore than is.
