Forza 5 being offered by various UK retailers as Xbox One Day One Edition pre-order incentive

Wednesday, 4th September 2013 21:10 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Forza Motorsport 5 is being offered to UK customers who pre-order an Xbox One Day One Edition by various retailers in the region. Amazon UK, ShopTo, and GAME are offering the racer as an option over FIFA 14, which was announced as a Day One Edition European pre-order incentive by Microsoft. Xbox One was given a November 22 release this morning, along with the announcement that more Day One Editions would be made available through Microsoft’s retail partners. Thanks, Gamespot.

    @1 – exactly!

    I wonder if MS are a little underwhelmed by the pre-orders so far?

    MS is doing what they can, they are anxious indeed much like all gamers too but it seems they are hard at work to pull something good.
    Yes, it should be fifa 14 as it has been stated many, many, many times already. A simple error from the author that needs to be rectified as switching fifa 14 to 13 would deserve its own article.

    I thpught at first it was FIFA and Forza, but it looks like UK preorders can choose one over the other.

    So… Is Forza doing a Forza Motorsport / Horizons yearly update now?

    I’m guessing Sony want Driveclub to become Horizon while GT battles Forza.

    That is, when GT actually shows its face every 3 years.

    What a bunch complainers :P

    Sony offers free games to PS Plus subscribers, and no one yells, “Please buy our service! PLEASE.” Instead we get, “PS Plus is a better VALUE than Xbox Live”. What a double standard.

    Sony fanboys are a special breed…

    Games are part of the PS+ service, always have been. Offering a game, then a choice of games as an incentive in just one region is different. Regardless it is an excellent deal for those getting a Day One edition.

    @11 – Apples and oranges.

    PS plus is a service that gives you games you can play while your a member of that service. Xbox Live only started giving free games late last year, and their titles are old and most people have already played them. The PS plus titles are a better more current selection, though you don’t own them.

    Offering Forza and Fifa for free shows that MS is worried about the perceived value of the Xbox One vs the PS4, and that they are concerned about that $100 extra cost, and are trying to make the system more appealing by adding a free game.

    Right now the PS4 is the better value, even if MS gives a free game away at launch. Good thing I don’t live in the UK, as I don’t care for Fifa or Forza.

    Or, to combat MS’s quality service, Sony had to resort to giving away free games…

    It’s all a matter of perspective really.

    Sony had to give away grapes, before they were even allowed to enter into the ‘apples vs. oranges’ debate…

    It’s just been announced today that Aussie pre-orders are now getting FIFA. Dearly hope that we get the option of Forza instead.

    Edit:

    To the Brits who find themselves with Forza – I’ll happily trade my Fifa code come the 22nd!

    @12 – True.

    @14 – “Offering Forza and Fifa for free shows that MS is worried about the perceived value of the Xbox One vs the PS4″

    So then it’s safe to say that Sony was worried about the value of the PS4 and sacrificed the life of the PS Camera in order to cut costs. Sony is cutting things off and Microsoft is adding things on. Either way, both are trying to do the same thing… offer a better value. So how is one more desperate than the other?

    Also, the article said, “Forza Motorsport 5 is being offered to UK customers who pre-order an Xbox One Day One Edition by various retailers in the region. Amazon UK, ShopTo, and GAME are offering the racer as an option over FIFA 14″.

    Where does it say both are being offered?

    Let’s not forget about this…

    PS4 Killzone Bundle for €499.99

    So Sony is offering a game, the PS Camera and another controller. Yet, Sony fans praised it to be the greatest deal ever. How come this bundle doesn’t scream “desperation”?

    Not only do they offer a game but also a second controller…

    The camera will be handy for the ‘VR’ headset.

    @PCBROS. That is so true. I remember when they anyonced that, they all fell on there knees and sacrificed there rent money for that deal. But when MS does it, there desperate…really?
