LittleBigPlanet “exciting announcement” promised for tomorrow

Sony has eschewed its usual weekly update on happenings in the LittleBigPlanet community in favour of teasing an “exciting” announcement.

UPDATE: Sony has just tweeted this image:

Don’t take this as confirmation of anything, but the pic does suggest we could see something LittleBigPlanet-related in Cologne next week.

ORIGINAL STORY: “There’s no weekly LBP Update today but stay tuned to the PlayStation Blog because we have an exciting announcement coming tomorrow instead,” the franchise’s Twitter announced.

Although there’s no clue as to what the announcement may pertain to, the delay of the regular news blast suggests something more than the usual DLC or UGC milestone updates.

A third core entry in the series, LittleBigPlanet 3, has been expected for some time. Interestingly, we were told earlier this year that Sumo Digital is behind the new game. Later evidence certainly seemed to back this up.

While earlier speculation pegged the new game for a PlayStation 3 launch, at this stage it’s hard not to speculate that we may see a PS4 announcement.

It’s worth remembering that original creator Media Molecule still hasn’t revealed its mystery project, either.

Thanks, Gematsu.

If Sony doesn’t remove the current Community manager from his position the game will be dead at birth.

I’ve been a notable member of the LBP community from day one.
People is leaving in flock because the Community aspects are addressed with bias, there’s an insane amount of nepotism and the moderation Sony should offer to protect both creators and young users is guillable.
The users are deceived and that’s very very sad, and there’s a group of people that crawls inside the Community Manager’s ass to get personal favours, that goes from Community forums staff to notable creators.
If someone oppose, he’s silenced, put to the side.

The game has lots of problems in the Community aspects.
The past year and a half has been a massacre.
Without some brilliant minds of users, the game is NOTHING.
The last year and a half under Steven Isbell’s management of the Community, has been a disaster.

See, Steven Isbell (he’s responsible for the tweets of LittleBigPlanet account) hyped stuff that IS nothing.

OmegaSlayer, I don’t know who you are but I FULLY AGREE with your argument against StevenI. My ps3 console was banned by him for actions I didn’t commit, and when asked for the reasoning of his decison, he only gave me generalizations! The new “block” feature in LittleBigPlanet 2 swiftly ruined and secured my decision to never return. I am very hesitant to purchase another LittleBigPlanet game due to the bias and catering to whiners/children that want LBP2 to be their way. It’s a pathetic community now that it’s solely his job, and I hope we get new people on the job or this game will be ruined.
