Bang With Friends: casual sex app being sued by Zynga over trademark infringement

Wednesday, 31st July 2013 09:56 GMT By Dave Cook

Zynga is suing the makers of Bang With Friends over trademark infringement claims. The app lets people browse Facebook anonymously and match up with others for casual sex.

Bloomberg reports that Zynga’s beef is with the ‘With Friends’ part of the title, which is bestowed on many of its family apps, such as Words With Friends.

Developer Bang With Friends Inc, first registered its domain name last year, according to Zynga’s filed complaint. Zynga hopes to block the use of the name Bang With Friends in conjunction with apps and social networking sites in America and is said to be seeking damages.

Yeah, it is like Sony complaining about everyone calling every transportable music player a Walkman, if you still remember those. I mean, “with friends” is a term from our common language, you can not just trademark it. It’s like not allowing people to “hang out with friends” since with friends now belongs to Zynga. There even some juristic term for that if I could only remember it…

Beside, what’s the big deal? It is an App that browses the Facebook accounts and looks for partners to have casual intercourse with.

    Wait… what?!

I dunno, to me this just makes them seem desperate now. Suing over ‘with friends’? So anything with that in a title they will try to make up their money loss with suing them.
