Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Source 2 spotted in leaked Valve archive

Wednesday, 19th June 2013 11:22 GMT By Dave Cook

Half-Life 3 rumours are – at times – tenuous at best, but this one might actually have some legs, even if they’re really short and not capable of running very far. According to community-led rumour site ValveTime, an internal mailing list archive typed by an actual human at Valve acknowledges the game’s existence by name.

The site posted this water-marked image which allegedly shows Valve’s internal bug-tracking and management platform ‘Jira’. You can see reference to Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Steambox, Source 2 and more intersting names in this gallery of screen grabs.

This could all be place-holder, so run your tongue over that block of salt-lick for now and swallow deep. The has slung all 791 listed project names on Pastebin for all to see, if you’re interested.

Earlier this year I wrote a blog about the possibilities of Source 2, after the new engine was rumoured, and how a big leap in tech would be quite awesome for Valve.

Valve’s Chet Faliszek has also suggested that Left 4 Dead 3 could happen at some point down the line.

What do you make of the above? Total bollocks, or is Valve setting up its framework for more Gordon Freeman stories?

Thanks OXM.

Valve still have to complete that promese about “we´ll have some announcement along the year”. Im sure HL3 is for next-gen, but man… Its time, damn!

L4D3 would make another great XBone exclusive (well, it’ll obvs be on PC, but you get what I mean). Seriously, never knew why Microsoft didn’t trumpet that game more, was so much better than Dead Rising…pumped countless hours into it.

Meh… Its true Valve is taking this way enough boring… I understand their promese is to show a new “game of the decade/ best marks ever”, but at least Source 2 feels like a great step.

Source 1 has been one of the best engines of this gen. I still enjoy it a lot. But Valve, I want my real Counter Strike 2, not only 1.5 Global Domination.

Kinda Portal 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode 2 spoilers, below!

In the end of Half-Life Episode 2, they said soemthing about aperture science, i would love a game, where Portal and Half-Life, would crossover and Gordon Freeman and Chell would co-op trying to stop GLaDOS, the Combine as well as hostile alien creatures.

@8 I’m pretty sure that was a joke. Black Mesa is also mentioned in Portal a few times.

@8 And in Portal 2 they refer to Black Mesa being their competition and even refer to the ‘missing experiment’, and in HL2 EP2 they have shown a container ship in ice that has the Aperture Sciences logo on it. Sure seems like they’re putting the games in the same world and would love to see them merge!

@8, it’s a joke. Although Portal universe is in Half-Life at some point.

I’m not sure there will be a crossover. I just don’t see it because these franchises are very different from each other.

This is just a newsgroup listing?

While Portal and HL share the same universe Chell-Gordon crossover will never happen. And Valve did confirm this in Portal – The Final Hours. That is why Portal 2 events are taking place 50 000 years after Portal 1/HL.

I don’t see what’s so mysterious about it. The way Valve works, people are free to start any project they like. If they want to work on L4D3, they’ll do that, or HL3, they’ll do that. Or Valves elves and fairies game for that matter.

That’s no guarantee that the project will actually be finished though.

@8 The only problem is that Postal 2 is set hundreds of years into the future.

EDIT: Ajsman beat me to it.

A Google search of Valve Jira offers an interesting first result. https://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy-ab&q=Valve+Jira&oq=Valve+Jira&gs_l=hp.3..0i22i30.501.5561.0.6256.18.14.4.0.0.0.285.1554.9j3j2.14.0…0.0.0..1c.1.17.psy-ab.HUTv9YKTG6Q&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.47883778,d.d2k&fp=b708dfac7b585b5e&biw=1680&bih=925
