Tales of Xillia release date set for North America

Namco Bandai hasat last confirmed a US release date for Tales of Xillia, the anticipated latest English entry in the long-running RPG series.

Gematsu reports the PlayStation 3 title is due on August 6, with the date revealed during a media event in New York last week.

No word yet on when the European version will arrive.

Tales of Xillia released in Japan in September 2011 and is the 13th entry in the core series to date, although spin-offs pad things out markedly. Check out some recent footage of battle gameplay to get the idea. It has already received a sequel in Japan, but there's been no announcement on whether that will be localised yet.

It looks like this might be our only Tales release for quite some time, as series producer Hideo Baba said that recent Vita re-releases are unlikely to be localised due to the console's under-performance. That said, he did recently promise us some surprises this year. The franchise has been only patchily localised to date.
