Is it just me or this is the least buzzed / marketed GOW title to date? I mean, Sony is pretty bad in the marketing department (Killing LBP Karting, Resistance 3, Starhawk and more) but this is GOW. Shouldn’t they be doing much more advertising?

@woe: don´t argue with the sonybots. i love my playstation but the sony fanboys are a plague. everywhere. not just here. noone beats them in dopiness. just ignore them. you´re posting some 7/10 reviews here and they already feel personal attacked. say halo mp is better than killzone (obviously very true) and they will tear you to pieces. now say 3ds has cooler games than vita and you are an enemy for life :)

cannot wait for this game. i loved the demo. gow is one of the greatest franchises ever. flawless gamedesign.

i re-bought a vita just yesterday (won an auction i never thought i would on ebay. vita 16gb, 2 months old, plus sonic racing and lbp vita for just 140 euro! – already sold sonic racing for 20 euro, because i already own it on another platform, so it all did cost me just 120 euro. great price. very happy about that. i thought it would at least sell for 180 or something.

well now i even upgraded to ps+ and already got my cash back by getting ME3, which i haven´t played yet, doa 5, lumines and many more. also redownloaded all my other vita stuff i already bought and repurchased (for “free”) the digital versions of some retail games i had but sold again. uncharted, gravity rush…if you have a vita and ps3 + really is a cool feature.

only thing that sucks is the memory card pricing. i mean 80 euros for 32 gb is a freaking joke! i can already see myself running out of hd space with all those cool + offers. i hope sony will release at least a 64 gig or even a 128 gig mc soon and price it more fair.
but for now i am very happy.

since i am not a game collector (i hate to have tons of stuff lying around in the house), i really hope/think, sony will even go further with plus on ps4. i am dreaming about a digital only subscription with tons of options to get games. like a premium rental service. that would totally be exactly what i would love to see.

@30: that so? i don´t really know this guy, what´s in this thread is ok and i remember other posts i´ve seen from him that have been ok too in my book. some of the other guys here are having a massive biased posting history too so that´s why i defended him. i really hate how this shit turned out on this page. made me posting so much less here…but i think these guys need some folks to counter them from time to time :) so i backed up woe for doing so.
that said, i don´t want to be involved in these childish fanboy crap anymore anyway.

Just thought I should add something to the topic which seems to be both trolling and personal attacks…

Anyway, I’ve said it before, the game didn’t generate hype enough and many reviewers now take that into consideration when scoring for some fucked up reason. Meanwhile I expect GOW fans such as myself will still love the game.

My biggest gripe is that I don’t quite care about it. I utterly loved the first one, second one was good fun and the third was a brilliant finale… but I kinda feel it’s done. Interesting i can see this is more of an adventure akin to GOW1 rather than the bloodbaths successors. But what really stands out is the multiplayer that might have brought down the metacritic score. But the scores are still good overall.

Woe does go out of his way to bring up any possible negative rumor or poor score about anything Sony related. I mean, that whole stupid “PS4 won’t pay CD’s” rumor. Do you know who submitted that to this site? Woe did.

@41: “imo they can exchange everything from the series.
Other setting, other character, other everything as long as the gameplay stays the same.”

i totally agree with you about this. there was a time when i even felt like i could enjoy these games even more if they had a different setting and would be less violent. today i am fine with them the way they are and i think they made the right decissions in designing gow in every single way. i think gow is perfect the way it is. the greek myth, kratos being the uberviolent badass, the story, the gameplay – it all comes together as being a great, epic ride of a videogame. one of the best franchises on any platform. today i think the violence adds to the fun of these games BUT i still generaly enjoy less violent games. i just can´t help but rolling eyes sometimes when videogames play the “cool” “gore” “mature game” card. in gow though it kind of makes fun and the finishing moves are fun to pull off. it´s not just a cheap gory slowmo killcam. i just said a few days ago somewhere here, that i think gow is a great 3d (hack´n´slash) puzzle/platformer…the basic gameplay elements could work very well in a jak, ratchet kinda setting….and i would love that. i just love these kind of games. could also work with a totally different setting, sure. the gameplay is just flawless and superfun.

Personally, I don’t want to play a God of War game where Kratos is not the main character. I’ve come to love playing as a sociopath in this series and it just wouldn’t work without him.

And there’s plenty of other gods for him to eventually kill.

Day 1 for me, but it does sound like the worst in the series so far…

Im getting a weird vibe off both this and Gears of War, I just don’t think they should have bothered, there doesn’t seem to be any passion in the production of both these titles.

A huge shame as they should both be flag ship exclusives for their respective platforms.

One thing that annoys me about this was the fact that someone mentioned the selectable weapons are gone from GOW3?!

Apparently you now have 3 versions of the ‘Blades’ and can pick up a few random weapons from the battlefield which sounds like a huge step back for me. The multiplayer has new weapons, but we all know the servers will be a barren wasteland in a few month’s so seems like a missed oppertunity to me.

It seems like Sony have had a lot of ‘average’ exclusives this generation.

    Uncharted 3
    Killzone 3
    Motorstorm
    God of War
    Gran Turismo

All good games but never quite reaching the greatness of some multiplatforms. Even PSN games have killed their exclusive offerings by a long margin.

I wonder if that will repeat with PS4? Killzone looks very set to be an 7 or 8 / 10 game. Apart from the increased graphics, the gameplay looked identical to what we have already seen in Killzone 3 so far.

Never the less, I love me some God of War, it’s just a pity they seem to have lost their spark for the series. I can’t really see it getting much better on PS4, same with games like Gears on 720.

Some titles are just starting to look really outdated…

Needs a massive reboot, there is nothing wrong with it except I’ve played this game 6 times now. Hard to feel fresh, sure you traverse different lands, but it plays the same.

  53. YoungZer0

I said it more than once, but I just love to repeat myself:

    New setting, new hero.

Here’s the Idea. Kratos wanders to the north, to the vikings and shit. Terrorizes their land, the gods can’t interfere because fuck you, maybe he took Odin hostage and the gods can’t help or something like that.

So they choose a champion, someone who fought against Kratos and lost or lost his home and family to that fucker. Someone young, someone who cares and has heart. So the new guy travels the land, fighting, killing creatures, trying to hunt down Kratos.

It’s basically God of War 1, but new weapons, new setting, new character and new story.

Seriously, there is NOTHING that could redeem Kratos anymore. Might as well make him the bad guy.

  54. polygem

@54: the gowA demo contains lots of footage from the viking tv series…maybe that´s a hint? your idea doesn´t sound bad man! timeline wise not accurate, but it´s a game in the end….about ancient gods. everything goes storywise.

I had to do a double take on that review someone linked to the Toronto Sun. lol

Rather than go into a long diatribe about how awful that newspaper is, or how it’s written at an 8th grade reading level, I’ll simply provide a link to some of it’s actual cover stories, and let them speak for themselves:

I look forward to playing this game…some time in 2015.

Why exactly would I go to a site called hardcore shooter to find out about a hack and slash title? It’d be like going to hackandslash.com to find out about Halo.

    #58 2 years ago
  59. Clupula

@54 – Why do we need a new hero? Kratos is who I want to play as in the fourth one. The story pretty much writes itself. Kratos can’t die and just wants to rest. He’s had his revenge and so he moves up North.

Meanwhile, “Athena” appears before the Norse gods and explains to them what he did to the Greek ones. It’d be like having a mass murderer move into your neighborhood, claiming “Oh, I’m done with killing now.” Of course, you wouldn’t want him there. So the Norse gods come gunning for Kratos and he kills them off.

After credits, reveal that “Athena” is actually Lucifer, trying to goad Kratos into eliminating all the other pantheons so that only he will be left as god.

The last thing I want is to play as some lame optimistic warrior trying to take down Kratos.

@62 – Thanks a lot. To me, it was the first thing I thought of, when Athena started acting so completely out of character in GOW 3.

Plus, it would very much mean GOW4 could be the first game of a new trilogy for the series.
