DmC takes over Japan, 3DS XL still the clear hardware winner

Wednesday, 23rd January 2013 16:34 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

I certainly hope not. It’s by far the best Devil may Cry game I have played. The work that went in to the art direction and just in to the game itself is by far better than what Capcom would have given us. I hope for a sequel.

@2: Me too, especially if you consider all the story-possibilities. Something that Capcom usually always fails to address, as proven by DMC4.

@1: Wuff, that’s bitter, seeing how DMC2 is the second-best selling DMC game in the series.

Funny how DMC3 sold nearly as ‘poor’ as DmC.

DMC is the worst selling game in Devil May Cry franchise. That’s good.

Because that POS is the worst thing ever created by humanity.

    @3,

“Wuff, that’s bitter, seeing how DMC2 is the second-best selling DMC game in the series.”

because oh HYPE. It was utter shit, but better then Ninja Theory’s disaster with FUCK YOU!

I still can’t get my head around how vile the gaming community is acting towards this game. Claiming that the game is a failure when getting good scores on metacritic and topping the charts in two regions. Ninja Theory has had a tough history and with their last big game barely selling 500K, I want DmC to succeed. These guys deserve something for this game, especially when they’ve had to deal with the venomous community since the title was announced.

The game isn’t even out on PC yet so some may be holding out for that version.

  6. Erthazus

Devil May cry series were not that big seller on the PC, this POS will fail even harder on the PC.

  7. YoungZer0

@4: You never played it, so shut up. Stating that DMC2 is better than any other game in the series is insanity.

@5: As i said before, i might even get the PC version just so i can make some wallpapers from the amazing levels. Hands down one of the best art-directions in videogame history. Secret Level is hypnotizing.

oh Tameem Dante is not cool anymore
but Donte is ha? why is it then that nobody is buying this game ? xD

BTW getting in January on 1# is really nothing to be proud of.
Tell me which other “big game” released in January? Anarchy Reigns? lol
Cacpom must eating their hats now hahahahhaha

7# good art direction wasnt enough to save DmC it needed more
    hint: Good combat

  9. YoungZer0

@8: ” why is it then that nobody is buying this game ?”

    Because people are stupid?

Hint, hint, i love the combat, i prefer it to other DmC titles. But you wouldn’t know that, because you never played it.

    #9 2 years ago
  10. Greek God

oh so we are stupid for having standards and a different taste?
    interesting tell me more
oh i played DmC and i like the combat in 3 and 4 more
its not as BROKEN and EASY as in DmC.

@10: I bet you’d argue that Bayonetta is a great game, but how is it a great game if it didn’t sell well enough?

    That’s your logic.

    #11 2 years ago
  12. DSB

I think it’s interesting that “nobody” is buying it, but yet everybody’s talking about it like they have.

    How does that make sense?

Are we dealing with chipped consoles, or people who haven’t actually touched the game they’re trying to slam?

    @10: How is it broken?

    #14 2 years ago
  15. Erthazus

“You never played it, so shut up.”

I played it and finished just today in the morning on my PS3. It’s short, retarded, with sloppy gameplay that has nothing to do with Devil May Cry or Kamiya’s action games. Game has less then 30 frames per second with retarded characters that has nothing to do with DMC at all.

I hope it get’s a sequel so everyone could not buy it and Capcom would shut down the franchise for good until decent Reboot from the devs that know stuff.

Thank god that it is the worst selling DMC game as I predicted. Yeah! MOAR of this POS Capcom, just like with Resident Evil:Raccoon failure.

  16. Greek God

    @10: How is it broken?
seriously we discussed these things to death!

    agree 100% Erthazus

    #16 2 years ago
  17. YoungZer0

@15: Man, every single time i read your comments, i imagine someone talking like that in public. There’s just no way, you’d be able to talk like that and people wouldn’t want to avoid you.

How is the gameplay sloppy? How does it has nothing to do with DMC? Isn’t the point of a reboot that it should be different? So maybe that’s why i doesn’t play like a Kamiya action game?

Retarded characters that has nothing do with DMC at all? What do you mean?

You understand that if this game sells poorly it could result in the franchise never coming back? Remember what happened to Syndicate? :)

  21. Erthazus

“How is the gameplay sloppy? How does it has nothing to do with DMC? Isn’t the point of a reboot that it should be different? So maybe that’s why i doesn’t play like a Kamiya action game?”

Gameplay is nothing like Devil May Cry games before and that is the most crucial part of the game.
Fact is, that the world champion (Brea) in DMC games says that it’s mechanics are not polished enough says a lot.
It doesnt’ play like Kamiya game because NT has not enough talent to do the right stuff, they tried to remake it’s gameplay and do the same thing, but failed because they had no experience.

    “What do you mean?”

i’m talking about new characters and human girl like Kat that has no story at all and we know nothing at all about her except that she is a runaway who was sent by a mysterious benefactor to guide Dante through his missions with The Order. That’s it. Horrible character.

“You understand that if this game sells poorly it could result in the franchise never coming back?”

That’s awesome. No more POS from NT and we have Bayonetta. Bayonetta 2 soon will be on WiiU and maybe next gen consoles/current gen.
We have Platinum Games in general that know how to make good hack and slash games.

Devil May Cry is already dead for me so I don’t worry about it.

So, worldwide…Capcom were predicting 2,000,000 copies sold. What do we all think the final tally’s going to be? I had predicted somewhere between 500,000 and 750,000. I think I’m right on the money.

    #22 2 years ago
  23. Greek God

didnt they say 5 Million in the beginning?
    HAHHAHA crazy
i say lifetime sales are around 800.000-1Million

    #23 2 years ago
  24. YoungZer0

@21: “Gameplay is nothing like Devil May Cry games before and that is the most crucial part of the game.”

It’s different, to say that it’s nothing like before is either based on ignorance or stupidity. It’s different, but it’s still the same, it’s still Dante shooting people up with his sword, jumping towards them to give them further beating in the air.

I don’t know who Brea is and i don’t care. I don’t understand why that persons opinion should be used as fact. That’s not how reality works.

“It doesnt’ play like Kamiya game because” … Kamiya is not involved.

“i’m talking about new characters and human girl like Kat that has no story at all and we know nothing at all about her except that she is a runaway who was sent by a mysterious benefactor to guide Dante through his missions with The Order. That’s it. Horrible character.”

Whoops, someone got caught in his web of lies. You never finished DmC at all or you’re mentally challenged, because Kat says at the end of the very first level that she was send by VERGIL who is THE LEADER OF THE ORDER. Jesus, you haven’t even watched the trailers, have you?

Multiple times during the course of the game was it mentioned that it was Vergil who helped her out and recruited her. We know that Kat was pumped full of drugs, because she could see things. We know that she was abused by her foster father who was a demon. We know that she could go out of her body and walk through Limbo, which is triggered by high stress. She met Vergil in Limbo and he told her that she was not crazy and taught her to fight back. Which she did by killing her foster father.

There is one cutscene in particular that goes into her background story and it’s not longer than 5 minutes.

If you don’t care about DMC at all, why are you here?

@24 “I don’t know who Brea is and i don’t care. I don’t understand why that persons opinion should be used as fact.”

@23 – I could have sworn it was 2 million, after they revised their RE6 predictions, but please, if you have an article that says 5 million, please give me a link, because I could use the laugh. I would so love to be proved wrong and that they were even more arrogant about this than I thought.

I seriously doubt this’ll even reach one million.

@32 – And work had begun on Megaman Legends 3. We know how that turned out. I’m sure they were ready to make this a whole new franchise on the grave of the old, but with these sales? I think it’s safe to say we’ve seen the last of DINO.
