Gears of War Judgment: GAME stores to hold public gameplay lock-ins

Gears of War: Judgment publisher Microsoft has teamed up with GAME UK to hold a series of store lock-ins, which will see gamers locked in their local store with the game. Participants will get the chance to be among the first gamers to go hands-on with People Can Fly and Epic Game’s shooter.

The lock-ins will take place across between February 3rd-27th – over a month before Gears of War: Judgment releases on March 22nd – and will see gamers kept alive with food and drink supplied by GAME staff, who we’re sure won’t mind working through the night.

To register for a place in the lock-ins, simply go to your nearest GAME store ans sign-up, or send your branch a tweet to state your interest. It’s first come-first served, so if you’re keen you better get in quick.

What’s your take on the idea? Is being locked in a GAME store overnight your idea of hell, or is it worth it to play Gears of War: Judgment before everyone else? Let us know below.

I think it’s refreshing to see entirely new, retailer-oriented marketing ideas. I fully expect this to become a trend, just like midnight store openings.

Interesting to see MS courting retail when it’s clear that their vision of the future pretty much excludes it.
