Windows 8: 431 GOG.com titles now compatible

Monday, 26th November 2012 17:18 GMT By Dave Cook

GOG.com has been making its wares Windows 8 compliant, and has ensured that some 431 games on offer are compatible with Microsoft’s latest operating system. The digital store has issued a statement on the matter where it has discussed the switch in detail. Check it out here.

Over on the official GOG site, a company statement stressed that games available in the GOG store should not require an update or to downloaded again in order to run on Windows 8.

“As of today we’re adding official Windows 8 support for most of the games in GOG.com catalog,” the statement explained, “There are currently 431 titles fixed, tested, and reported to be working properly under Microsoft’s new OS.

“Note that most of these have not had the master builds updated, so you shouldn’t need to redownload the installer or anything. Some of the titles, our build ninjas performed their usual magic on, and they’ll work now in Windows 8 – and we’re even adding Windows 7 support to a few.

“We’ll also be adding more Windows 8 games as time goes by and we’ve got time to apply some fixes to more of the classic games in the catalog.”

The retailer had held off from making any Windows 8 announcement prematurely as it wanted to experience the OS before passing judgement.

But Gabe Newell said Windows 8 is TERRIBLE FOR GAMING!!

It can’t be that Windows 8 is good for gamers! IT’S IMPOSSIBLE!

It’s a closed system! Which is wholly unique to Windows 8, and terrible! And doesn’t work! Be afraiiid!

definately coming from the opinion of people who don’t know what they are talking about. Windows 8 works perfectly with all games i throw at it, old and new. that Gabe Newell is talking shit, underneath the hood of the new start menu it is basically Windows 7, so quit your moaning.
