Ace of Spades is the next game from RuneScape developer Jagex

RuneScape developer Jagex has announced that the next game it'll be publishing is Ace of Spades, a Minecraft-meets-FPS hybrid.

For those of you thinking that the game sounds familiar, well, you're onto something. Over the last few months, Ace of Spades has been playable in what's now being referred to as its 'prototype' form. In fact, it's received over 2.5 million downloads since its original launch.

Jagex has been working on the title since October, though, and have now decided that it'll be sprucing up the game itself.

The premise of Ace of Spades is rather charming - combine the blocky look and "create anything" style of Minecraft with WWII-shooter combat. Take a look for yourself in the trailer below to see what I mean.

Ace of Spades will hit Steam this December. The prototype download has been free for a good while now, but the revamped edition will cost an as-of-yet unannounced price.
