New PlayStation Store launch delayed in the US

The launch of the new PlayStation Store in the US has been postponed, Sony announced overnight.

Originally scheduled to go live next week, the launch of the new store in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil will now miss its on October 23 launch.

"We want to be certain that you have an exceptional experience with the new store, so we appreciate your patience as we complete the final phases before launch, Sony's VP Eric Lempel said on the US PS Blog.

"We’ll update you as soon as a new release date has been set. Until then, the existing PS Store will be fully operational with the game, movie and TV content that you enjoy today."

The new store launched earlier this week in Australia, New Zealand and several countries in Europe.

It went live in Saudi Arabia, Russia and the Ukraine this morning.

Teething issues related to the global roll-out caused the store's launch in the UK and some European countries to be postponed. Sony told VG247 it was working to make sure the issues were addressed and resolved.
