NBA disappointed by NBA Live cancellation, "assured" next release will contain "standards of excellence"

NBA Live 13 may have been cancelled, but the NBA has said it will continue to "work together" with EA on the series as it always has, according to NBA marketing communications VP John Acunto.

Speaking with Joystiq, Acunto said the NBA continues to have "a great relationship with EA," and while it is disappointed over the cancellation of NBA Live 13, the firm has been "assured by EA that the next release of NBA LIVE will meet our mutual standards of excellence."

EA Sports EVP Andrew Wilson announced in September the game had been cancelled after much deliberation, noting the game had not met the firm's "high expectations."

The franchise is expected to return next year with what we assume will be NBA Live 14.
