Bad Company and Mirror’s Edge IPs are “too good to kill,” says Bach

Thursday, 16th August 2012 13:51 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Bad Company 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2 are still on the table at EA, according to DICE executive producer Patrick Bach.

Speaking with IGN, Bach reiterated what various EA executive have been saying regarding both IPs for ages now, but with Mirror’s Edge especially, Bach said it was an IP DICE loves “and of course we haven’t killed it, because it’s too good to kill.”

Love is a word Bach used to describe the firm’s – and his – feelings for the Bad Company IP as well, as both are “very dear to me because I worked on both titles.”

“We have no information with where we are to a sequel to Bad Company, so I can’t tell you anything about that IP,” he said. “[We] never kill something that’s great.”

Until either title is announced, Bach said DICE has “other projects in store” for fans other than Battlefield 4, and what these are, well, the public will “just have to wait and see.”

I’d have liked to have seen BFBC3 before BF4 tbh. The main series should be for big milestone achievements in tech and gameplay where the off shoots used for spicing up the bi-yearly franchise updates.

BFBC3 main campaign needs to be a lot more BFBC and a lot less BFBC2.

I hated what they did with BFBC2, Bad Company 1 was as funny as an FPS can possibly get. BC2 was like a boring action flick. Looking back on it, the multiplayer was kind of shit, too. You couldn’t even go prone. The destruction was better than in BF3 though.

It will be fine, they’ll make a cover based shooter Mirror’s Edge Unjumped: Faith’s Torture.

Same feeling here fellas. I really enjoyed BFBC, but the sequel left me feeling ‘meh. I also really liked the online class balance in BC more then BC2 or even BF3.

BattleField 3 should have been the stand out title and BFBC3 the expansion pack the following year.
But no, leave BF3 bugs unfixed, eek out content with nickel-n-diming DLC, then release the next VERSION within 18 months.

Our gaming community are not taking up the map-packs and only a few people bought into Premium. The news of BF4 has gone down like a turd in your coffee! In fact we are now re-instating our BFBC2 server, as despite the older dated graphics the game is more fun and less nerfed-to-death than it’s buggy “successor”.

@6 Well then thank god your community is about 0.0001% of the playerbass, because not having your kind of snotty, self-entitled, overbearing moaning in the game can only be a godsend.

    Agree completly

“eek out content with nickel-n-diming DLC, then release the next VERSION within 18 months”

Sadly this is not a problem of Battlefield 3 only, is the direction most of the FPS are heading, now we have monthlyzations (for the lack of better term) instead of yearly iterations, i think other shooters like halo will follow suit.

From quite some time i havent play BF3, the next time i play it will be BFBC2 instead, share the same feelings and sentiment, for me is a better game, but maybe iam being biased here, because it was my first Battlefield game, the level of destruction is what i like the most, it changes the way of play, something that BF3 lacks IMHO.

Sorry to took your whole comment to make my own comment, is that it has all the things i think on this matter.

The destruction was great in the BC games.

+1 to the BFBC1 >>> any other BF game.

The semi-openworld, humorous, well written and characterised campaign was a breath of fresh air.

The sequel, and BF3, stinks like the CoD-style funnelled angsty ‘blockbuster’ shite it is. Weak, derivative and lazy.

This is all regarding SP. Couldnt care less about OMP.

The SP in BC1 was good fun. Not amazing by any stretch but funny with good ideas and a unique feel. BC2 SP was awful but the MP was much better. Never touched the SP for BF3 but I do love the MP, specially in Karkand maps.

Played some BC2:Veitnam just last night. After months. Must be like riding a bike ;) The best part of BC2 sp was when you’d sit idle. And them goofy mates of yours would start talking. Their conversation about the movie predator is hilarious :D
