And by old I mean internet old.

Check out the forums, it’s also going to use the Arma 3 Engine.

I’m definitely going to buy this, even though I normally don’t play multiplayer games. Glad it’s not F2P, because I can’t stand that unlock, unlock, unlock focus of those games.

@4, i think it’s going to be F2P at some point.

1 million people buying ArmA II just for mod is already something.

@2

Rocket announced it on the forums about 3-4 months ago.

Rocket = Dayz Creator

Erth, this game would not work as a FTP game.

You can’t start people with equipment or it would break the game.

I can see it being a $15 game on steam.

@6 They said they were going to do it on the forums.

This was an official announcement.

There’s a difference.

@royBrown, it won’t break the game. WarZ is in development as a F2P title + F2P does not mean that you need to sell weapons at all.

Tribes: Ascend do this with “Experience” boost, SKINS and it works for them or Team fortress 2 that has successfull item shop with hats aka skins.

If theres one thing that fits perfectly into a zombie apocalypse simulator built around desperate searching for supplies and a battle for survival is a POP UP CASH SHOP WHERE YOU CAN BUY CANS OF BEANS FOR REAL FUCKING MONEY.

FUCK OFF F2P YOU FUCKING CANCER.

Thats not true, WarZ isn´t a F2P title, it will cost you 29,99 $ ^^

see here http://forums.thewarz.com/showthread.php?603-The-War-Z-Extended-F-A-Q

and here http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/19/the-war-z-a-new-zombie-survival-experience?page=3

“So we said, “OK, we’ll go with a one time fee, that should be lower than $60.” So we settled at a $29.99 price point, and we’ll offer a discount to those that pre-order the game.”

Will they use Arma 3 engine ?

Too many assumptions about F2P. I think cosmetic differences that do not effect that game such as skins & accessories are fine, but purchasing any advantage is a real kick in the balls to everybody else.

I hope they manage to tweak the engine in time, so it will actually accomodate the game. The ArmA 2 engine doesn’t have a melee system, and obviously it’s not great at supporting fast zombies or twitch shooting either.

I think the idea for Day Z is brilliant, but the game itself is so far from it.

@12 That was always the plan. Do the alpha in ArmA 2 and then make the real release in ArmA 3.
