Sony has released a set of videos, showing off some of the best user-created levels in the LittleBigPlanet Karting beta. The firm posted 8 videos out of the 350 levels published every day of the beta from over 125,000 participants. The beta ended on July 31 and the game is out in October on PS3. The beta was really good, I loved the game, sadly I did not race the treetop level or the lava one, those are amazing!!

I think the beta is good, i like it, i didnt touch the creation tools yet, but i will do so this weekend, but for the gameplay in itslef i think the drifting mechanics needs a little bit of work, is a little loose or not so tight like in other kart racing games, modnations in my eyes didnt handle well this issue neither.

    Good god, that looks awful…

Wait for Mariokart Wiiu… All other Kart games are so much fail it’s crazy.

If your going to copy something, at least make it better. The user made content looks awful too, just like little big planet…

I really like the creation idea of things. I haven’t been able to play the beta. I haven’t found a single kart game over the years that was worth a damn besides Mario Kart and ocasional bits from other racers(like the cart bits in GT5). They almost all feel like cheap rip offs of MK but with sloppy controls. Add that to Sonys big Nintendo (me too, ssmb, lbp-kart) push and the whole thing comes across as sad. Maybe a little desperate.

But, still, I will try if I can before I pass judgement. Maybe I will enjoy the game.

I had so much fun with the LBP karting beta, definitely looking forward to this!
@3 doesn’t even look remotely bad… please throw yourself off a cliff literally i notice your comments are always negative towards Ps3 games, are you an autistic 40 year old shut in or under the age of 12? because it really is pathetic being a console fanboy.

    Check my PSN my friend…

I dont go for trophies but own all consoles…

I’m the opposite of a fanboy. Had a Vita too, till I sold it because I didn’t enjoy the games on it (again, check my PSN).

Main console is 360 (because of the pad and most friends on the platform).

This however, looks shit to me. I’ll wait for reviews and hopefully there will be a good demo to prove me wrong. Just calling’ it like I see it. Played far to many games to not realise a potential turkey when I see it…

And, enough of the autistic tags when it comes to gamers. I’m a behavioural therapist who runs a care home that specialises in autism. So using it as some kind of attack just makes you look like an uneducated prick….

Main PS3 games I would slag off, are things like this and PSN smash bros clone because they are lazy and look shit…

Having played the Beta a fair bit it’s actually very good. It does obviously borrow some things from MK, notably weapon selection, but there is also a really well done link up with LBP. Stuff like grapple swings, jump pads, level look and feel. Weapons seemed a lot better balanced than Mario Kart Wii for example, which i thought was effectively broken by some poor design decisions. Controls are good too, especially compared to ModNation which I never quite got on with. Drift mechanics have a nice risk reward mechanic.

Played around with the creation tools which were Modnation meets LBP as you might expect. As with LBP the majority won’t be great but anyone can create and that process is fun regardless of how much others enjoy what you produce. Something a lot of people missed with LBP, it doesnt matter if you produce a load of crap if in the process you’ve had fun doing it. There will be some real gems in there too though.
