Persona 4 Arena to be region-locked, but have global servers

Cancel your import copy of Persona 4 Arena; it is not going to work on your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

In a highly unusual move, Atlus has revealed that the anticipated RPG spin-off is region locked on both consoles; PS3 games are almost never import-unfriendly, so don't get caught by surprise.

Luckily, the publisher also confirmed with Siliconera that the game's multiplayer servers are global, so you'll be able to play with anyone in the world - assuming you both have reasonable enough latency to make that fun.

It's still a little disappointing for European fans though; the fighter's local release date is yet to be locked down, although Eurogamer's reporting today that it's likely to arrive in the UK on August 31. Persona 4 Arena hits Japan on July 26 and the US on August 7. And hey, watch it live from EVO 2012 this weekend.
