Street Fighter X Tekken and SF4: Arcade Edition PC patches incoming

Friday, 25th May 2012 08:07 GMT By Alex Donaldson

Capcom USA’s Corporate Officer/Senior Vice President Christian Svensson has confirmed to balance-hungry fans that patches for the PC version of Street Fighter X Tekken and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on the PC are both on the way in the near future.

“For SFxT, a patch should be submitted to MS today,” he told fans on the Ask Capcom forums of Capcom Unity. “It will take some time (usually a week) for MS certification, signing of files and then some additional time for the coordination of pushing the patch out via non-Steam and Steam methods.”

Svensson goes on to state that he “suspects” the patch contains all of the launch fixes including removing infinite combos and fixing audio when playing online but could only say that it “hopefully” wouldn’t include the all-new game-breaking freeze bug that locks the game up entirely like the console version of the patch did. A fix for that error in the console version isn’t due until mid-June.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition players also get the 1.07 balance and bug patch console players got earlier in the year, which Svensson describes as being “in our internal QA now.” That patch should be submitted to Microsoft “in the next few days.”

PC patches for the titles need to be pushed to Microsoft as both games use the Games for Windows Live service including achievements and a patching process that’s very similar to the one on the Xbox 360. Microsoft certification couples with Capcom’s fighter PC ports being developed by a different team to mean that updates take longer to come out than on console.

“For clarity, the team in Japan won’t send the PC team patch data until after it’s propped on the console to ensure it’s working as intended on those platforms before working it into the PC SKU,” Svensson explained. “That’s part of the reason why there’s a gap.”

eh…What’s the purpose of MS’ certification procedure, if Christian Svensson of Capcom just suggested with his ‘hopefully’ position on the GAMEBREAKING already identified knife bug not getting introduced to the PC version of the game too – that their update may well NOT be rejected on sight by said team! :o >:(

(and then, if that were to occur, as it should, then Svensson would be guilty of having presided over pissing money up the wall.)
